Aged in bourbon casks in Barbados then refined in Cognac casks at the Cognac Ferrand estate, this rum has the typical style of Barbados rum with fresh wood, toffee, vanilla and oaky notes.

The goal of Kaniché is to show what Carribean Rum look like. Kaniché rums come from Barbados Island, one of the most representative places in the Carribean. The Barbados style is very specific, the rums are round, smooth and powerful.

Double aging – a unique aging technique

As rums produced by Cognac Ferrand House, Kaniché rums are first aged for many years in Barbados, in its hot and humid climate, generally in young bourbon casks. When they reach maturity, they are shipped to Cognac Ferrand’s Château de Bonbonnet at their natural strength in order to preserve their richness of aroma and flavor. There, they are matured by our cellar master for several months to a year in small oak casks in order to give them even more elegance, refinement and roundness. This aging technique, used extensively in the 18th and 19th century, had almost disappeared. Drawing on several generations of cask ageing know-how, Cognac Ferrand's cellar master has modernized and perfected the technique in order to produce exceptional rums.
